Dynamic Partnership
Cleantech to Market (C2M) is a partnership between students, scientists, and professionals to translate cleantech research into market opportunities. In the process, C2M develops the next generation of energy leaders capable of addressing critical energy and climate change issues.
Scientists
C2M first works with the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and UC Berkeley technology transfer offices to identify new inventions with potential energy applications.
Students
C2M then selects top graduate students to form market research teams. Students are drawn from Business, Engineering, Science, Law, and the Energy and Resources Group. C2M considers both academic and professional training when balancing the skills on each team.
Professionals
C2M supports the teams with leading energy professionals who bring deep subject matter expertise (e.g., electric grid operations, biofuels economics, clean energy law, early stage venture). These professionals guide the students as speakers, mentors, and key contacts.
innovation in Action
The result is a lively and innovative exchange. Students experience first-hand the challenges and rewards of moving cleantech to market; scientists gain valuable business feedback on their research; and industry professionals engage with fresh talent and new ideas.
