The Lester Center for Entrepreneurship at the Haas School of Business, University of California at Berkeley is proud to honor Moshe Alafi with its Lifetime Achievement Award on March 20, 2012. A Berkeley alumnus, Mr. Alafi is one of the founders of the biotechnology industry. He has funded and helped start over 60 companies through his venture capital firm Alafi Capital. Many of these firms have created entire new industries including such pioneers as Cetus, Biogen, Applied Biosystems, and Amgen. His life is an incredible inspiration to entrepreneurs as a successful investor and startup partner as well as one who has done an incredible amount to improve our health and scientific knowledge with biotechnology breakthroughs.
The Lester Center for Entrepreneurship Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes entrepreneurial excellence as reflected in the individual's success in multiple business arenas and significant impact on their given industry. These exemplars of entrepreneurship inspire future generations. Honoring them allows us to bring outstanding practitioners to the Berkeley campus to inspire our student entrepreneurs and the community as a whole.
